The Republican Centre for Addictive Disorders provides services for all young people free of charge, 16 to 18-year-olds can request to receive the treatment anonymously.

Young people of 16 or older can register for a consultation with a Child and adolescent psychiatrist independently, while minors younger than 16 are expected to register and arrive with a parent or other legal representative.

First, registration is made for a consultation with a child and adolescent psychiatrist who will determine the further treatment plan.

During the consultation, the child and adolescent psychiatrist will assess the health condition and, in case harmful substance use or addiction is diagnosed, will provide information about the addiction disorder and possible treatment methods. If deemed necessary, the doctor will also issue a referral to the RCAD Children and Youth Rehabilitation Unit in Vilnius or Kaunas branch or the Children’s daycare center in the Klaipėda branch.

Parents and other legal caretakers of children and young people are encouraged to consult our specialists in cases of suspected experimentation or hazardous drug use of their children. No pre-registration is required, and consultations are free of charge. Caretakers are welcome at our Children and Youth Rehabilitation Units in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Klaipėda.

Consultations will provide you with:

  • better knowledge of child and adolescent drug use, harmful drug use, and addiction as well as treatment and support options.
  • skills to analyze the core causes of the issue.
  • discover ways to improve communication with your child and learn about effective responses to risk behavior.
  • develop an action plan.

Services provided:

  • For individuals using or having mental and behavioral disorders due to psychoactive substances and having addiction syndrome and pathological attraction to gambling.
  • Age range: 14 to 18 years old. The decision regarding admission to the unit for individuals younger than 14 or older than 18 is made by the unit head.
  • Services are available for parents, legal guardians, and family members of children and adolescents.

The unit provides consultations with a psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, and occupational therapist for adolescents and their parents/guardians. An individual treatment/assistance plan is created for each child. This plan includes improving mental health and important areas of family life such as strengthening family relationships, occupation and leisure, vocational guidance, and addressing legal issues. The implementation of the plan takes place during the treatment period in the unit (1 to 3 months but can be longer based on the need) and afterward, either independently or with the assistance of other institutions providing family support.

The service can be provided in an outpatient department or a daycare center.

  • Age range: 14 to 18 years old. The decision regarding admission to the unit for individuals younger than 14 or older than 18 is made by the unit head.
  • Services are available for parents, legal guardians, and family members of children and adolescents.

Psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists work with adolescents in accordance with the scheduled activities in the department. The aim is to help children and youth develop emotional, social, cognitive, and learning skills, strengthen motivation to pursue personal goals, and build self-confidence. Treatment is tailored individually and lasts from 1 to 3 months but can be extended if necessary.

  • Age range: 14 to 18 years old. The decision regarding admission to the unit for individuals younger than 14 or older than 18 is made by the unit head.
  • Services are available for parents, legal guardians, and family members of children and adolescents.

Competent specialists in the field, including child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, work with adolescents. The daycare center focuses on developing the emotional, social, cognitive, and learning skills of adolescents and provides comprehensive solutions for risky behavior and harmful substance use. An individual treatment/assistance plan is created for each child, covering the improvement of mental health and important areas of family life such as strengthening family relationships, occupation and leisure, vocational guidance, and addressing legal issues. The implementation of the plan continues if the adolescent attends the day hospital and, if necessary, can be extended in collaboration with other institutions providing support to the family/child.

The service is provided on an outpatient basis (daycare center). The working hours of the daycare center are from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays.

Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by parents or legal guardians.

  • Age range: 14 to 18 years old. The decision regarding admission to the unit for individuals younger than 14 or older than 18 is made by the unit head.
  • Services are available for parents, legal guardians, and family members of children and adolescents.

Ambulatory services are provided for adolescents – consultations with a psychiatrist and psychologist.
